She smiled and sat up so she can see him better. She looked at him seriously. "Vladus," she started, "if I were to die in childbirth, I don't want you to mourn over me forever. I don't think that the God would want me back. The child should be a sign that there was something between us." She paused again before starting. "Vladus, I want a child with you. I seriously do. But only if you're ready to have one with me then I'll be ready too."
In truth, she was scared. There was a very high chance that she or the baby would die, and since she was once male she could be infertile. Dragons that switch genders are generally "cursed" with infertility within the race. Cornelius had made sure of it. It was one of the newer laws that transgender dragons would be shunned and denied of having a family (or bearing children). She'll face all of this if it meant having a child with her husband.
